Because we love the trails we ride, we give them the care and feeding by building, fixing, and maintaining them. Building and working on the trails provides a means to get to know the trail and other trail users. It's a great opportunity for Mere Mortals to meet other volunteers which are comprised of cyclists, equestrians, hikers, and runners from all over the Bay Area.

Trail building is a great way for us to build community relations, work with other trail users and show them that we are willing to work for the benefit of all and are conscious of the environment that we use. It's also a great way to work the upper body and work with your land managers directly.

Mid Peninsula Open Space Preserve, CDF and other organizations have a growing demand for volunteers to do trailwork in the various parks. That is where we Mere Mortals can do our share in the community.

As a group, we volunteer once every three months. If demand grows for more, we adjust our schedule accordingly. Individuals may volunteer any weekend of their choice. As active members of the mountain biking community, we try to do at least one day of trailwork annually.

There are plenty of trails that need to be maintained from the Soquel Demonstration Forest to El Corte de Madera.

If you are interested in doing trailwork, please check the calendar or contact Anne-Marie through e-mail at ajumeau at yahoo dot com or call 650-424-8297.
