MROSD Waterwheel Downhill ride is CANCELED.

MROSD Waterwheel Downhill ride is CANCELED.

Hi all,

It’s raining heavily tonight and Strether reported that the Stevens Canyon trail was already sloppy yesterday when he hiked it. So, unfortunately we will have to cancel the ride. Perhaps we will re-schedule the ride this spring if we can find a suitable weekend, otherwise look for it on the summer MROSD schedule.

We have two more rides on the schedule for this quarter: “Hooves and Wheels Together” on April 29 and the “Four Preserve Ride” on May 5. Hope to see you all there!

Dave.

Ride at Purisima Creek

Ride Leaders: Tony and Anne-Marie, anniejumeau@gmail.com

Ride Level: Intermediate – advanced at a social pace

Starting location: parking lot by PC 01 on Skyline 35.

Meet at 10:15 a.m. and roll at 10:30 a.m.

Come and ride with Tony and Anne-Marie at Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve.  The plan is to ride from Gate PC 1 on Skyline, down North Ridge Trail to Whittmore Gulch Trail to Gate PC 5 nearest to Half Moon Bay.  Whittmore Gulch Trail is a sweet downhill, with multiple switchbacks which goes through an enchanted forest of giant redwood groves, madrone, lush ferns, and wild flowers.  We have the option to go back up Whittmore Gulch Trail to Gate PC 01 at Skyline 35 or Purisima Creek Trail to PC 03 and riding part of Skyline 35 to Gate PC01 to the parking lot.  For those who want to add an extra loop, we can go partly up Purisima Creek Trail to Borden Hatch Mill Trail (2.7 miles) and down Grabtown Gulch Trail (1.5 miles) back to Purisima Creek Trail to Gate PC 5.  (This loop is 1000’ climb.)

Route is subject to change and give yourself at least four hours of riding time.  Part of the ride is a continuous climb of at least 1700’ or so depending on route we take.  Bring your helmet, plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, a sense of humor and adventure.
